Am I going?, am I not going?, am I going?, am I not going? ... a well-known video from MadLipz - that's probably how we've been thinking since early summer about organizing the competition. Later, we managed to secure the exclusive premises of the Municipal Sports Hall, so it would be a sin not to use it. Despite worrying about the regulations regarding the pandemic (that could cancel the whole event), we started preparations. It was the highest time, but in the end we managed to chase it all down to some little things, that fortunately none of the participants noticed.

There were a lot of worries with the organization this year and there weren't many opportunities to go somewhere and get inspired. Studying regulations, e-mailing with the public health authority, with the city office, the venue, preparing documents ... For example, hand straps had been solved at the very last moment, since we realized how many people go in and out the whole day. Checking everyone several times a day would be difficult. The new venue meant changing all the logistics of transporting the tables. Fortunately, the carpets were in place..

And so it broke out on Saturday - at first it was startying very slowly, as if everyone had changed their minds at the last minute. Then the modellers slowly began to come, later the spectators came and the hall began to fill up. Thanks to the generous space of the hall, it seemed that the hall was empty, but the statistics showed differently.

Our powerful machine for counting the occupancy of the hall reported maximum of 311 people at once. A total of 585 hand straps were used. There were about 140 modelers with models, the rest were visitors, sellers and the organizer. We can say, that within the permitted sanitary measures, the participation was decent.

The only thing I am sorry for is, that despite our effort to make it possible for everyone to come in these conditions, some people didn't understand it and put some (for me) incomprehensible reasons beyond the joy of our hobby.

It's their pity, because according to the responses of competitors, spectators and sellers, we managed to organize a successful event. We were pleased by the visitor's comment: "I am against all measures, tests, masks, but I will do everything for the models, so I came." Modelers from all over Slovakia took part, but there were also people from Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic. Even the guys from Belgrade came (according to them, they came to see how such an event can be organized during the pandemic - our pleasure). We were glad to meet friends we hadn't seen in over a year, and, as usual in last years, the high quality of the models.

There were more than 550 competition models, and also a lot of non-competition models. We regretted the lower participation of paper models – there were just over 100 of them, so the paperworkers will have to improve by next year. We are glad that the guys from Warhammer Nitra showed up again this year, and JOZEFRAWB showed us his art during the workshop. This year, Peťo and his railway also had their premiere at the competition, and a number of not only the smallest modellers stood there all the time.

We apologize for the confusion in the award ceremony.Our idea was to comply with COVID's measures, but it did not work out as we had planned. Next time we will return to the classic ceremony.

The competition was held with the support of the city of Nitra and AMAVET.
